Winery Review: Overall rating of Winking Owl winery received a 3.3/5. This particular variety, Sauvignon Blanc, received a 2.9/5 according to "vivino.com." One of the lowest rated reviews noted this wine to be "Horrible. No flavor at all. Would only use as cooking wine. Gross" (M.F, 6/4/2021). However, another individual who rated highly mentioned that it is "A fruity blend with light notes of pear and...oh who am I kidding? This $3.00 bottle of quarantine wine is what we all need right now. Pair it with a box of pasta and a binge session of "breaking Bad" and quit taking yourself so seriously!" (J.B, 4/10/2020). Majority of the reviews were in between either loving or hating this wine, although the 2017 vintage year was rated the most negatively.

Personal Review: First impression of this wine was average. It was quite refreshing and was not too heavy on the palate, but there was not many flavors to take note of other then apple and pear. It was bitter with a light body, but not as warm as other wines. Very dry. According to the back of the bottle, the notes include "notes of citrus, lemon and apple." After tasting the wine and reading the label I certainly picked up on the lemon hints but not as much citrus. According to wine folly, specifically on page 57, the taste chart outlines how specific flavors properly pair with foods. This Sauvignon Blanc was refreshing and bitter, this particular wine would pair well with salty foods, however, it would not pair well with acidic or spicy foods. I will certainly take this into consideration if I pair this wine with food in the future!
