Winery Review: According to vivino.com, this bourdon barrel cabernet sauvignon is highly rated amongst people. With an average rating of 4.0/5.0, this wine is thought to be a "Pretty solid cabernet. Notes of cherry and raspberry give way to some smoke, leather, and oak. Definitely, give this one a try!" (Brian, 1/3/2022). Cabernet Sauvignon from California is full-bodied and dry. This winery is part of Shannon Ridge, on the North Coast, Lake County of California.
Personal Review: My overall impression of this wine was quite good. This cabernet is extremely strong and very bold on the palate with a large body. I tasted notes of plum, berry with a slight hint of sourness. This bourbon barrel wine had hints of wood/oaky flavors. High acidity and high tannins. Not too bad, very warm in the mouth and the chest. According to Wine Folly, this full-bodied wine would go exceptionally well with only a few dishes, specifically being red meat. This wine would be poorly paired with shellfish, fin fish, and/or mollusk. Other meals that this wine would pair okay with is white meat (i.e. chicken), cured meat and/or strong marinades. I will certainly keep this in mind because I enjoyed this wine! Not to mention the packaging was nothing like I have ever seen before, which is really unique!
