Winery Review: Macari Vineyard is located in New York. The vineyard describes this wine to represent the "two waters" that surround their vineyard. The great peconic bay is to the south and the long island sound is on the north side. The two bays of water create a unique environment that protects the vineyard and encourages slow and steady ripening.
Personal Review: I was very intrigued by this wine primarily because I have not tried a red table wine yet. This particular blend consists of 48% merlot, 25% cabernet sauvignon, 17% cabernet franc, and 7% petit verdot, sounds delicious right!? First impression of this wine was wow. There was certainly a kick to it, almost tobacco like. It was about medium bodied with accents of raspberry, sourness to it. When paired with cheese and crackers, this wine was very good! Did not overpower the flavors in any way. According to wine folly, specifically on the page where the wines are listed by body, these 4 different wines all vary in their level of body. With petit verdot being closer towards the bottom and cabernet franc being towards the top and merlot and cabernet sauvignon somewhere in the middle, this wine was really well balanced!
