Winery Review: Crane Lake is located in California and is produced by Franzia and Bronco Wine Company. Description of this wine is "medium-bodied, everyday-style Cabernet with nice dark fruits on the palate and a slightly smokey finish. Enjoy with barbecued and grilled meats and hearty veggies."
Personal Review: I usually am very picky with my cabernets because I tend to prefer pinot with a lighter taste. This cabernet was not my favorite. I picked up on the claassic notes of cherry and blackberry but there was a slight kick, almost like pepper. It was very tart and rather sweeter then most cabernets. Not too heavy on the palate but still had a dry finish. According to page 57 of wine folly, the taste chart shows which specific flavors pair nicely with other flavors found in food. This cabernet was bitter, so it would pair best with salt, just like as description of the wine stated that this would be paired well with barbecued and grilled meets! Found on page 61 of wine folly, this medium-bodied wine would be paired best with strong marinades (aka barbecue), red meats, and white meats.
